About the position

The Director of Data Architecture at McKesson is a pivotal leadership role within the Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) Decision Intelligence (DI) team. This position is responsible for developing and executing the data architecture strategy to support strategic data initiatives, facilitating data-driven change, and creating business value through advanced analytics. The role requires a profound expertise in data architecture to analyze, design, and implement complex systems that ensure robust and scalable solutions aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the strategic development and continuous refinement of data architecture frameworks.
  • Lead the design and implementation efforts to ensure robust, scalable, and integrated data environments across the organization.
  • Architect complex data systems that support scalable integration and optimal functioning of business-critical applications.
  • Manage the creation of data design deliverables including data models, data diagrams, data flows, and corresponding data dictionary documentation.
  • Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in data architecture and engineering.
  • Build and mentor a team of data architects and engineers, providing expert guidance and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define and implement data governance practices and standards to ensure data integrity and compliance across all data systems and platforms.
  • Tackle complex data-related problems with strategic solutions that contribute to long-term business success.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in data architecture, with a solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and modern data frameworks (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake, Azure).
  • Exceptional ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams, fostering an environment of accountability and innovation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop strategies that align with long-term objectives.
  • Innovative and creative problem-solving skills capable of handling complex challenges.
  • A career history that shows a trajectory of growth to high-level roles through significant contributions to business needs and technical innovations.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.
