About the position

The Director of Data Engineering will lead the design, build, and scaling of the backend data infrastructure for a GenAI startup focused on AI-generated content across various media formats. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and performance of the data platform while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop robust AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, build, and scaling of backend data infrastructure using the latest data engineering technologies.
• Create, generate, acquire, clean, and analyze data for models detecting deepfakes across video, image, audio, and text.
• Understand video, image, and audio file formats, including compression techniques and codec standards.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and management to Data Engineering teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Applied Science, Applied Engineering, and Platform & Product Engineering teams.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or related field; MS preferred.
• Over 10 years in technology leadership roles, particularly in Data Engineering.
• Experience in leading multifaceted teams with a passion for innovation.
• Hands-on development experience with datasets and data engineering tools.
• Understanding of machine learning and AI, including real-time data processing.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with PyTorch, AI Engineering, and Deep Learning.
• Familiarity with ONNX, Tensorflow, transformers, and tensorRT.
• Knowledge of building scalable technology stacks.
