About the position

DSG is seeking a Director of Data Product Management to lead the data transformation part of our digital strategy. We are searching for someone whose expertise lies at the intersection of business and technology. They will be a strategist, change agent, partner, builder, collaborator, and a constant champion for the customer at every level of our organization. As a Director of Data Product Management, you will be responsible for translating business and digital strategy into a data strategy for the enterprise, identifying related people, system, process, and data gaps and required operating model steps for prioritization and remediation. Additionally, you will be responsible for both strategic and operational aspects of data management including but not limited to change management, governance, strategic guidance on data related initiatives, building a data team that can support the digital roadmap and oversight of key data systems and resources. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to fully grasp and manage complex data initiatives surrounding DSG's digital roadmap for both online and offline data to deliver personalized, timely and relevant customer, partner, and employee experiences. A strong working knowledge of data governance, data quality, business process modeling, data architecture, AI/ML, BI/analytics and change management is required. Additionally, the ideal candidate is experienced working with systems such as MDM, EDW, PIM, DAM and CRM and digital analytics data. At DSG, we are dedicated to building futures one job at a time. Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and execute strategies and roadmaps to optimize the processes and methodologies of ingesting, storing, transforming, and governing data to solve business problems.
  • Champion and lead DSG into becoming a data driven organization.
  • Build a high performing team of data experts, owners and stewards that will support the organizations business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional steering committees with various functional areas to meet expectations and objectives of leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee Master Data Management implementation ensuring that it meets the needs of various business stakeholders.
  • Partner with cross functional product teams to identify and prioritize key data priorities.
  • Oversee digital transformation initiatives in the enterprise data management space including but not limited to MDM, PIM, DAM, CRM, digital analytics data, etc.
  • Oversee the management of data quality and data architecture, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and accessible.
  • Identify data-related process, policy, governance, and infrastructure requirements resulting from new and evolving product concepts.
  • Work with BI/Analytics team to align priorities and initiatives.
  • Build vendor relationships to assist with expediting the implementation management of digital initiatives.
  • Create and own a budget outlining current and future data team, technology and process needs and initiatives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed as a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics, IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience surrounding data management or governance, including five years in senior leadership.
  • Experience in the wholesale/distribution industry a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of product, customer, market, and employee data.
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of how the industry operates, leveraging a centralized data system such as an MDM or EDW.
  • Advanced knowledge of MDM, EDW, PIM, DAM, CRM.
  • A strong detail and results orientation with intentional use of data in driving business priorities and investment decisions.
  • Expertise in setting ambitious, tangible, and measurable targets and driving quality execution while operating with a sense of urgency, decisiveness, and responsiveness.
  • The flexibility to be adaptable while exhibiting a growth mindset, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to learn from both success and failure.
  • A strong team player mentality, is a natural innovator and builder, and exhibits a high EQ.
  • Experience managing and growing high performing teams, including the proven ability to mentor, train, and develop.

  • Proven success of expertise in change management methodologies and communication.
  • Excellent analytic, problem solving and people and change leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modern product management and agile delivery principles and frameworks as applied to digital capabilities and experience is not required but a plus.
