About the position

The Director of Delivery Operations at UST is responsible for overseeing all aspects of delivery operations within their designated ecosystem. This role requires operational oversight, coaching and developing delivery staff, and ensuring that performance and financial goals are met. The Director will also maintain professional relationships with clients and drive superior service levels, contributing to the company's growth and success through a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery operations with an emphasis on achieving service and financial objectives.
  • Manage the delivery budget for your location.
  • Monitor daily and weekly reports to ensure financial objectives are achieved and deficiencies are identified and addressed.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data and metrics to ensure adequate independent contractors (ICs) for monthly forecasting.
  • Ensure adequate trained personnel are available to operate successfully and maintain UST's E3 standards.
  • Monitor contractor earnings and lead programs to limit contractor debt exposure.
  • Drive results that meet or exceed UST & Client service and KPI standards.
  • Grow and foster strong client relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Develop and lead innovative programs to train, evaluate, and coach staff in successful operations.
  • Monitor and perform ride behinds and site audits to evaluate independent contractors and identify coaching opportunities.
  • Oversee loadout, route completion, check-in, claims management, routing, DOT compliance, and invoices/settlements.
  • Conduct business to enhance the reputation of UST, contractors, and customers.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and UST requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to work a schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Bachelor's degree and four or more years of relevant experience, or 6-10 years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to 20% travel and 24/7 availability depending on location performance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating and analyzing statistical and financial reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., finance, customer service, employee management).
  • Ability to make independent judgments that impact the organization significantly.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and create innovative solutions.
  • Ability to balance customer satisfaction with cost-effectiveness.
  • Multi-tasking and providing thorough follow-up and detailed action plans.

  • Experience in logistics or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and management.
