About The Position

The Director of Development at The Connecticut Hospice, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the Development Department's daily operations and ensuring the organization meets its annual fundraising goals. This leadership role involves strategic planning for capital and operating funds, managing a team, and enhancing the organization's public profile. The Director will work closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors to implement fundraising strategies and manage external affairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising or development roles.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases; knowledge of Salesforce is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow, meet deadlines, and manage details effectively.

  • Experience in managing a team and working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of hospice care and palliative care principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a yearly and multi-year strategy for raising capital and operating funds from foundations, individual donors, and corporations.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to continuously raise the organization's profile.
  • Strategically leverage work study relationships to generate revenue for operating and capital needs.
  • Manage the Development Office team, including interns and volunteers, and oversee development office activities.
  • Identify, cultivate relationships, and solicit funds from major gift prospects, utilizing the CEO as needed.
  • Coordinate the annual appeal and manage grant writing efforts to raise funds from foundations.
  • Oversee the design of all marketing materials and ensure consistency across communications.
  • Manage the content and appearance of the Connecticut Hospice website and social media accounts.
  • Handle all media and public relations, including press releases and publicity efforts.
  • Draft and manage the production of the annual report and oversee fundraising events.
  • Ensure accuracy of database content and prepare reports for the Board of Directors.
