About the position

KW Cares seeks a Director of Development to help grow and sustain organizational operations. We are eager to work with a Director of Development who has multi-faceted skills to join our team. The Director will have strong CRM and data analysis skills with the ability to focus on reporting, trends and historical findings. Coupled with creativity and strong-interpersonal skills, the role will also help foster a relationship-based fundraising model. The Director of Development reports to the VP of Development and is responsible for supporting the execution of the comprehensive fundraising plan to position KW Cares for success and sustainability. This position is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quantitative and qualitative evaluation of fundraising outcomes, resulting in informed, data-driven, and donor-centric strategies
  • Manage the ongoing integration of the CRM, Virtuous, and oversee process for data entry and gift processing
  • Monitor fundraising results and consistently report progress to the CEO and VP of Development
  • Develop and track data, creating monthly reports to inform outcomes and donations across KW regions and market centers
  • Collaborate internally to monitor and forecast revenue and expenses, and drive financial results
  • Work with the CEO and VP of Development to design and fulfill annual fundraising strategy and goals
  • Help implement key areas of the annual development plan, including but not limited to annual giving and marketing segmentation
  • Participate in Fundraising Committee Meetings and Board Meetings, as requested
  • Generate new ideas that increase revenue through marketing and fundraising strategies
  • Support the creation of relationship-based portfolio and donor strategies
  • Empower the development team in executing the development communications plan through innovative and creative approaches, consistent and aligned with the organization's communications strategy
  • Manage donor communications for high-level, strategic fundraising opportunities

Requirements

  • Technologically savvy, especially with CRMs and donor-driven data
  • Knowledge including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, Canva and project management platforms
  • Development and/or philanthropy experience in a nonprofit, educational, or public service environment (typically 3-5 years)
  • A track record of achieving tangible fundraising outcomes in a competitive field
  • Experience in planning, leading, and managing development projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to senior managers/board of directors
  • Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences
  • Gets others to accept ideas by using convincing arguments, creates a win-win situation and responds appropriately to key stakeholders
  • Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally
  • Experience responding effectively to shifting and evolving fundraising priorities
  • Coachability: Able to work in a team environment and has the courage to communicate openly and honestly
  • Possess a growth mindset: the willingness to be coached to increase effectiveness and collaboration which ultimately produce impactful results for the organization
