About the position

The Director of Development at Hut 8 is responsible for managing data center development opportunities across the United States. This role involves overseeing the entire development lifecycle, from site selection to permitting and commercial negotiations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. The position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to successfully integrate data center loads.

Responsibilities

• Manage data center development opportunities across the United States.
• Conduct project due diligence and secure site control.
• Navigate the load interconnection queue for data center development projects.
• Oversee the entire development lifecycle for data center loads, including site selection, permitting, and grid interconnection.
• Negotiate commercial terms with counterparties to maximize value for the company.
• Identify strategic business opportunities and mitigate risks through well-structured project contracts.
• Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses while evaluating relevant laws and regulations.
• Lead data center development opportunities and manage development budgets.
• Develop and implement growth strategies while fostering collaboration across functional areas.
• Provide direction to internal teams, including engineering, legal, and finance, to support successful project outcomes.
• Prepare and present transaction approval documentation for senior management.
• Represent the company at public hearings, industry forums, and stakeholder meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in energy origination and/or development.
• Strong financial acumen and business strategy expertise.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

• Experience with data center development is a plus.
