About the position
The Director of Development at Benet Academy is responsible for executing the organization's fundraising strategy, enhancing donor relations, and managing various fundraising initiatives. This role involves collaborating with leadership and the Board Development Committee to achieve and exceed annual fundraising goals, ensuring the financial sustainability of the school. The Director will oversee the Development Team and engage with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors to cultivate strong relationships and secure funding.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of the Development Team who report directly to the Director of Development.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Advancement, the President, and the Board Development Committee to meet and exceed annual fundraising goals.
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet short and long-term financial goals.
- Identify, cultivate, and help steward strong relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Manage direct mail, online giving, day of giving, and other annual fundraising efforts.
- Identify and assist in the solicitation of major gift prospects and planned giving opportunities.
- Lead the grant-seeking process, including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
- Adhere to all of Benet Academy's policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in non-profit management, business administration, communications, or a related field.
- 7-10 years' experience in a non-profit setting.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and cultivating donor relationships.
- Experience managing a team and working collaboratively with leadership and board of directors/trustees.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience in public speaking and writing compelling proposals and fundraising appeals.
- Proficiency in donor management software including Raiser's Edge and SalesForce, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills to evaluate fundraising metrics and outcomes.
