About The Position

The Director of DFR Policy is a key role within the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation, responsible for developing and implementing departmental policy and legislative objectives. This position involves significant interaction with the Legislature, the Governor's Office, and various governmental entities, as well as external stakeholders. The Director will work closely with the Commissioner and deputy commissioners to set priorities for major legislative projects and coordinate decisions among senior managers and legislative representatives. The role requires a hybrid work presence, particularly during legislative sessions.

Requirements

• Jurist Doctorate or Master's degree with three years of professional experience in law, public policy, or governmental relations.
• Bachelor's degree with five years of professional experience in law, public policy, or governmental relations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental policy and legislative objectives.
• Interface with the Legislature, the Governor's Office, and federal/state governmental entities.
• Articulate scope, direction, and priorities for major legislative projects and planning.
• Recommend and coordinate decisions requiring agreement from senior managers and stakeholders.
• Manage complex administrative and policy-related issues under deadline pressures.
