About the position

The Director of Digital Marketing Strategy at Mark My Words Media is responsible for owning and evolving the marketing strategy that powers over 200 local businesses. This role involves building innovative optimization systems and working with a high-caliber team to shape the future of local lead generation. The position is remote, with in-person attendance required at semi-annual company offsites, and focuses on both paid and organic marketing channels.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve marketing strategies across all channels for each business vertical.
  • Build and maintain systems for monitoring campaign performance across channels.
  • Design and execute systematic tests to improve campaign performance.
  • Develop robust tracking systems to measure campaign effectiveness.
  • Document and standardize successful approaches for each business vertical.
  • Optimize the overall marketing mix to maximize lead generation effectiveness.
  • Stay connected with the digital marketing community to bring best practices back to the company.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of digital marketing experience with a focus on local lead generation.
  • Proven expertise in both paid and organic channels including Google Ads, LSAs, GMB, Local SEO, and paid social.
  • Strong track record of building and optimizing multi-channel lead generation systems.
  • Experience with analytics platforms and ability to build comprehensive tracking/reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated success scaling lead generation campaigns across multiple similar businesses.
  • Deep understanding of local business marketing dynamics and lead quality optimization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience managing marketing strategy at scale (100+ similar businesses).
  • Proven record of developing and implementing systematic optimization processes.
  • Strong analytics background with expertise in Google Analytics, Search Console, and GMB Insights.
  • Local service business expertise (contractors, lawyers, medical, etc.).
  • Active thought leadership in digital marketing communities.
  • History of successful A/B testing and experimental design.
