About the position

The Director of Digital Marketing will play a pivotal role in the marketing strategy for Arizona Athletics, focusing on results-driven email marketing campaigns and digital strategies. This position involves utilizing various digital assets, including the official athletics website and the Arizona Athletics app, to promote products and services effectively. The Director will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive email marketing strategies, which include crafting email copy, conducting A/B testing, and creating both simple and complex email campaigns. The use of marketing automation tools and data analytics will be essential to drive engagement, conversions, traffic, and revenue for Arizona Athletics. In this role, the Director will write email copy for assigned sports and build email campaigns tailored to specific target audiences, collaborating closely with marketing leads and utilizing Eloqua for campaign execution. The Director will oversee the master email marketing calendar and coordinate various types of email campaigns, including one-step, multi-step, and automated campaigns. Additionally, the Director will be responsible for data review and making informed decisions based on the compiled data to optimize email campaign performance. The position also encompasses the development of digital strategies aimed at creating appealing advertising content that generates clicks with the intent to purchase. The Director will assist in the web development of assigned sport ticketing pages, focusing on SEO, basic web coding, and marketing language to maximize revenue. Maintaining revenue ads on the Arizona Wildcats website and enhancing the fan experience through the Arizona Athletics app will also be key responsibilities. The Director will cultivate relationships with campus partners to identify programming opportunities that benefit Arizona students and enhance the overall student experience during home athletic events. Furthermore, the Director will assist the Game Presentation and Fan Engagement team with graphic and video requests for digital campaigns and will be involved in community outreach and grassroots marketing initiatives to promote Arizona Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Write email copy for assigned sports and build email campaigns for Athletics marketing.
  • Strategically plan and execute e-mail messages designed for specific target audiences with assistance from marketing leads using Eloqua.
  • Responsible for email segmentation and identifying key target audiences for email campaigns under the direction of the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing.
  • Coordinate various email campaigns, including one-step, multi-step, automated campaigns, and A/B Testing.
  • Oversee the master email marketing calendar.
  • Collaborate with Wildcat Club, A-Club, and other Athletics departments to maintain branding and email scheduling.
  • Review data and make decisions on email campaigns based on compiled data.
  • Create methods for developing appealing and effective advertising content to generate clicks with intent to purchase.
  • Assist in the web development of assigned sport ticketing pages, focusing on SEO, basic web coding, and marketing language to maximize revenue.
  • Maintain order for coded tracking links generating revenue.
  • Responsible for upkeep of revenue ads on arizonawildcats.com and assist with the Arizona Athletics app.
  • Create and display unique ways to enhance fan experience and the Arizona Athletics brand, focusing on live event productions.
  • Cultivate relationships with campus partners to identify mutually beneficial programming for Arizona students around home athletic events.
  • Work alongside campus programming and communication teams to enhance the student experience on campus.
  • Assist the Game Presentation and Fan Engagement team with graphic and video requests for email and digital campaigns.
  • Plan and assist with community outreach and grassroots marketing programs to create excitement for Arizona athletics.
  • Attend meetings and showcase the Arizona brand to the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • Three years of experience working in email marketing and/or digital marketing.
  • Experience with Eloqua, ticketing solution software, CRM solution software, HTML, social media management systems, Google Analytics.
