About the position

Park Hyatt New York is seeking a seasoned sales professional with specialized experience in diplomatic sales. The Director of Diplomatic Sales is a fully competent individual who has experience in selling and managing diplomatic transient and group sales. This position requires an expert in building and maintaining long-term relationships with governments, missions, and diplomats from around the world. The candidate will work with customers to align their preferences with brand needs and actively qualify each business opportunity to maximize revenues and drive customer loyalty. Both prospecting for new accounts and current account development is necessary for this role. The Director of Diplomatic Sales will be responsible for driving revenue by providing thoughtful proposals to inquiries, negotiating contractual terms, developing and executing a SMART plan, hosting hotel tours, networking, client entertainment, organizing and attending client events, tradeshows, and meeting with clients to discuss the needs/details of the event. Travel is required, including one to two extensive trips to the Middle East. This position is responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. The Director of Diplomatic Sales is highly involved with planning and servicing while guests are in-house. This role will process business correspondence and create contracts and other related booking documentation as required for groups. The individual will work closely with the Reservations Team for individual reservations. This position requires excellent customer service and communication skills. A self-starter, strategic mindset, and dynamic thinker are necessary for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with governments, missions, and diplomats.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years prior diplomatic sales experience is required.
  • Expert in understanding and working with diplomatic business.
  • Strong established relationships with key contacts in the diplomatic market.
  • Upscale or luxury hotel experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional prospecting, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
  • Strong revenue management skills to create financially sound proposals.
  • Competitive spirit with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in general computer skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or Business Management is preferred.
  • Multilingual preferred, with Arabic speaking preferred.
