About the position

The Director of Direct Marketing Operations at Ducks Unlimited, Inc. is responsible for managing and coordinating the planning and integration of key initiatives and special projects that support the direct marketing strategic plan. This role involves overseeing operational and project plan development, ensuring cross-functional collaboration, and reporting directly to the Managing Director of Direct Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, coordinates, and ensures a consistent planning process for special projects and strategic initiatives defined by direct marketing leadership.
  • Assists Managing Director of Direct Marketing in creating strategic plans and mapping out tasks needed for implementation.
  • Works collaboratively with direct marketing leaders to define clear processes for special project requests, including concept review and approval.
  • Assists Managing Director with budget preparation and ongoing revenue and expense reforecast for Direct Marketing.
  • Collaborates with Director of Annual Giving and external agencies to ensure accurate reporting of revenue and costs.
  • Oversees financial performance and budget preparation for assigned programs, including monthly giving and matching gifts.
  • Leads marketing and technical development of new program initiatives.
  • Develops and optimizes strategies for the matching gift program in collaboration with divisional partners.
  • Implements and evaluates an audience-based acknowledgment program to drive revenue and enhance donor experience.
  • Collaborates with Director, Member Services on the CDS partnership and oversees caging operations at CDS Global.
  • Identifies and implements ad-hoc campaigns and recommends additional campaigns to direct marketing leadership.
  • Oversees processing of weekly online and special handling premium files.
  • Collaborates on the oversight of the membership fulfillment kit process.
  • Takes lead role in package creative and content strategies and expense management.
  • Responsible for opening and maintaining all permits for direct marketing and auditing them as needed.
  • Manages Enterprise Payment System (EPS) and CDS postal accounts to ensure proper funding for campaigns.
  • Analyzes mail deliverability weekly and communicates updates to team members and Managing Director.
  • Develops cross-enterprise strategies for the Charitable Adult Rides & Services (CARS) program.
  • Coordinates, develops, and executes the annual tax receipt mailing.
  • Leads the Employee Giving program, developing strategies to drive employee donations and memberships.
  • Collaborates weekly with Direct Marketing leaders on departmental updates and performance metrics.
  • Researches and communicates direct marketing industry trends and challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years in direct marketing with demonstrated ability to drive revenue and donor retention.
  • Understanding of direct marketing best practices and industry trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; experience with Blackbaud CRM is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, planning, time management, and organizational skills.
