About the position

The Director of Distribution Logistics is a key role within the wholesale operation, responsible for overseeing the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods from warehouses to retailers. This position focuses on managing relationships with Third-Party Logistics (3PL) providers and optimizing the order management process to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in distribution management and a deep understanding of the complexities involved in fulfilling orders for large retail chains.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with 3PL providers, ensuring they meet or exceed performance expectations in terms of cost, service, and compliance.
• Lead and manage 3PL Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including establishing metrics, monitoring, and analyzing KPIs related to warehouse operations.
• Effectively manage daily escalations related to warehouse operations, including order fulfillment, inventory discrepancies, and delivery delays.
• Assist in negotiating contracts and service level agreements with 3PLs, conducting regular performance reviews and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Collaborate with 3PLs to optimize warehouse operations, inventory management, and transportation strategies.
• Review and validate invoices from the 3PL provider, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in 3PL management to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee the entire customer order management process, from receipt of purchase orders to delivery confirmation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Develop and implement SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for customer order processing, fulfillment, and shipping.
• Leverage technology and data analytics to monitor order status, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address potential issues.
• Collaborate with OPS, Sales, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure seamless order execution and customer satisfaction.
• Develop strong partnerships with the customer base to ensure shipments meet compliance requirements at all times.
• Research and help to minimize all chargebacks related to shipments to customers.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive distribution strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and network optimization.
• Stay informed about changes in the retail landscape and adjust distribution strategies accordingly.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing distribution team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in distribution management, with a strong emphasis on 3PL relationships and order management.
• Proven track record of success in optimizing distribution operations and delivering results.
• Deep understanding of the wholesale industry and the specific requirements of retailers.
• Experience managing an eCommerce distribution operation, directly or through a 3PL.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP and WMS systems.
• APICS or other relevant supply chain certifications are a plus.
