About the position

The Director of Distribution is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and enhancing performance in operations, transportation, warehousing, and global distribution networks. This position focuses on developing and implementing training programs, vendor compliance, and strategic leadership for logistics processes to ensure optimal service levels for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and improve performance in operations, transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Lead development and implementation of training on freight procurement and management best practices.
  • Develop vendor compliance programs and monitor/audit for compliance.
  • Drive positive change by developing new metrics and KPIs, reporting findings to senior leadership.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the movement and storage of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Create and implement logistics vendor performance management processes and KPIs.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and differentiate the company in terms of cost and service.
  • Leverage advanced analytical techniques for logistics network and procurement improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for cost and service improvements.
  • Research and implement new tools for resolving process issues and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Ensure maximum customer service, order fill rate, on-time shipment, and order accuracy.
  • Define and manage key internal and client-facing metrics and strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee multi-facility warehouse operations and compliance with company policies.
  • Centralize routing, improve deliveries, and ensure DOT compliance.
  • Develop and implement best practices for inbound freight.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience in a logistics management environment.
  • 2 years of experience managing freight vendors, including truckload and LTL carriers.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing complex projects with a track record of delivery on time and within budget.
  • Minimum 8 years of technical experience.
  • Advanced analytical abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Six Sigma and/or Kaizen projects.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to drive engagement and create a motivating climate.
