About The Position

The Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Alliant International University plays a crucial role in leading and supporting the university's multicultural initiatives. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the university's diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) plan, ensuring alignment with the university's mission and values. The Director collaborates with various stakeholders across the university to foster an inclusive culture, improve support for underrepresented groups, and address systemic issues related to diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience; doctoral degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in higher education, particularly in diversity training or management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading DEIB initiatives.
  • Experience integrating multiple data sources into actionable insights.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for the DEIB agenda.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising for DEIB initiatives.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a University DEIB plan that aligns with Alliant's values, mission, vision, and goals.
  • Provide leadership to standing and ad hoc committees, developing benchmarks and metrics to assess impact.
  • Collaborate with the President and university leadership to implement diversity objectives and multicultural competencies.
  • Work with the Board of Trustees Committee on Diversity and Inclusion to integrate multicultural competencies into governance.
  • Model cultural humility and raise awareness on social justice and diversity issues.
  • Consult with senior leadership and departments on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor a University Workforce Diversity Plan in collaboration with the Office of People & Culture.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to communicate diversity initiatives and progress.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with student organizations and community stakeholders to support DEIB strategies.
  • Review university practices and policies to identify improvements for achieving DEIB goals.
  • Work on grant proposals and fundraising efforts to support DEIB initiatives.
  • Conduct training on cultural competence for staff and faculty.
  • Perform other related tasks as required.
