About the position

The Director of Education is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving the training programs under the ABC Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter's Apprenticeship Trust. This role focuses on instructor development and ensuring operational continuity across multiple training units in the region. The Director will manage training centers, enhance instructor performance, and ensure that training services meet the expectations of students and member employers. Additionally, the position involves local travel to various facilities and requires a strong emphasis on increasing program revenue and student enrollment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage operations of all ABC Eastern PA Training Regional Training Centers.
  • Develop a culture of consistent instructor improvement and retention.
  • Create an environment that exceeds student and employer expectations.
  • Interact consistently with COO & CEO regarding Workforce Development Activities.
  • Manage instructors at each ABC facility and partner locations.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations set by PATC, Federal Government, ERISA, and ABC National.
  • Act as the point of contact for all matters relating to students and instructors.
  • Provide recommendations to increase program revenue and decrease costs.
  • Assist in assembling the Annual Budget with the Executive Team.
  • Support program development to achieve a net 15% growth rate in student enrollment annually.
  • Maintain student records and ensure accuracy in reporting systems.
  • Coordinate curriculum and lesson plan development in accordance with NCCER guidelines.
  • Assist in scheduling classes across all locations.
  • Attend monthly PATC meetings and report results to stakeholders.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective instructors for final approval.
  • Coordinate with Marketing for communications related to ABC National Craft Championships.
  • Prepare legislative testimony as requested by the COO or CEO.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in education and leadership roles.
  • Ability to attract and retain top instructors in the industry.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in education is essential; construction experience is a plus.
  • Ability to forecast operational costs and manage within budget constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing.
  • Independent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze data.
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • NCCER Master Trainer certification (preferred).
  • State Journeyperson Certification.
  • Experience in grant identification and response.
