About the position

The Director of Engagement Excellence at Martin Brothers Distributing is responsible for creating and maintaining an employee engagement platform aimed at attracting and retaining top operations talent. This role involves leading initiatives to improve safety, quality, customer service, and employee engagement across the organization. The Director will collaborate with various departments to promote a family-owned, employee-owned culture and implement strategies that enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and iterate Martin Bros. Employer of Choice platform.
  • Coordinate advertising campaigns for operational departments with HR and Marketing.
  • Facilitate communication among primary stakeholders to achieve staffing and engagement goals.
  • Assist Directors with messaging related to major accomplishments and events.
  • Partner with management to create a culture of celebration and appreciation.
  • Introduce and coordinate gamification efforts across operational departments.
  • Organize developmental strategies for operational departments in alignment with company goals.
  • Develop and implement training and development opportunities for operational departments.
  • Ensure planning, coordination, communication, and follow-up across leadership areas.
  • Ensure development plans are in place for identified talent.
  • Work with HR and management to meet training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with VP of Operations and Directors on idea promotion and development.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and accountability.
  • Lead change management efforts for new processes and practices.
  • Develop relationships with local school administrators to access candidate pools.
  • Communicate with local schools and potential candidate outreach contacts.
  • Create and promote marketing materials for operations-based roles.
  • Develop and iterate course materials for Martin Bros. 101.
  • Schedule recruitment courses at critical times.
  • Promote core values and culture with prospective and existing employees.
  • Participate in onboarding and orientation for operational departments.
  • Meet with prospective candidates to encourage applications.
  • Coordinate with HR on stay and exit interviews to promote engagement.
  • Attend external recruitment events as appropriate.
  • Participate in new hire onboarding and post-orientation touchpoints.
  • Administer new hire and veteran touchpoints for the Employer of Choice program.
  • Create announcements highlighting employee accomplishments and perks.
  • Update employee communication screens relevant to operations-based employees.
  • Maintain a list of internal/external perks and corporate discounts for employees.
  • Engage with employees for ideas to improve existing programs.
  • Manage employee appreciation events and gamification contests.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to promote engagement activities on social media.
  • Work various hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in employee engagement or human resources roles.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Experience in change management and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and stakeholders.
