Estes Energetics is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering and Operations to lead our engineering and operations teams in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality products. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional leadership and communication skills, and a proven track record in managing complex projects and teams. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and operations professionals, fostering a collaborative culture that promotes innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. You will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering and operations projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines. Additionally, you will provide expert technical guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and develop innovative solutions. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the company's engineering and operations capabilities, managing the budget and resources for the engineering and operations departments, and ensuring that all projects meet rigorous quality standards and compliance requirements. This position requires a strong commitment to quality assurance and operational excellence across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and operations professionals.
  • Foster a collaborative culture that promotes innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering and operations projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Allocate resources efficiently and manage project priorities to align with company goals.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective decision-making.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to the engineering and operations teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and marketing, to define technical requirements and develop innovative solutions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, driving continuous improvement in engineering and operational processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the company's engineering and operations capabilities.
  • Identify and evaluate new opportunities for innovation and growth in line with the company's mission and objectives.
  • Manage the budget and resources for the engineering and operations departments, ensuring cost effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure that all engineering and operational projects meet rigorous quality standards and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for quality assurance, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
  • Champion a culture of quality and operational excellence across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a technical leadership role, managing engineering teams and projects.
  • Strong technical background with expertise in software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies is a plus.
  • Prior experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and or chemical industries.
