About the position

The Director of Engineering / Chief of Staff at LinkedIn will serve as a strategic partner within the Talent Solutions Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in driving key initiatives, managing operational rhythms, and ensuring alignment across teams. The individual will leverage their expertise in R&D and strategic planning to support LinkedIn's vision of becoming the world's leading talent marketplace, particularly in the context of transitioning to an AI-centric engineering organization.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage deep product knowledge to contribute to a long-term roadmap for the engineering organization that integrates both business and technical perspectives.
  • Identify emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive dynamics to inform strategic planning.
  • Prioritize projects and allocate resources effectively to balance new feature development with technical debt reduction and infrastructure innovations.
  • Drive prioritization, alignment, and execution with external platform partners.
  • Ensure alignment of resource allocation with organizational goals.
  • Drive tech innovation by identifying new opportunities for development based on market needs.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to create strategies and roadmaps for new innovations.
  • Manage relationships and interdependencies with key stakeholders to drive alignment across vertical teams.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration within and beyond LTS engineering, acting as a bridge between product and engineering teams to facilitate collaboration.
  • Leverage existing relationships and understanding of LinkedIn culture to foster collaboration between R&D teams across LinkedIn.
  • Amplify a positive, productive, and equitable work environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, engineering, strategy, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leading significant product development or strategic initiatives in a technology-driven environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS in Engineering or Computer Science) or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Significant experience working with software engineering leadership, technical teams, and individual contributors.
  • Ability to communicate authoritatively at a sufficient technical depth.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with LinkedIn's engineering teams and leadership.
  • Industry experience building AI/ML applications.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of business operations, market dynamics, and financial principles.
  • Deep organizational savvy and knowledge of LinkedIn's culture and processes.
