About the position

The Director of Engineering is a pivotal leadership role within the Clean Technology Systems (CTS) Division, responsible for planning, developing, and directing engineering activities across various offices and manufacturing sites. This position focuses on delivering quality customer solutions on time and within budget, aligning with the strategic goals set by the VP of CTS Americas. The Director will oversee mechanical and electrical engineering functions, including product design and development, while fostering strong internal and external customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for engineering departments to enhance customer relationships and profitability.
  • Convert business strategy into actionable roadmaps for engineering teams.
  • Support and implement plans targeting markets and products to increase sales and market share.
  • Inspire and motivate team members, encouraging their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure product consistency with engineering requirements and manufacturing practices.
  • Oversee a 'design for manufacturability' process to integrate plant ideas into design standards.
  • Make data-driven decisions, balancing risk with opportunity.
  • Align strategies with Global teams for consistent engineering designs and practices.
  • Manage performance of direct reports, providing coaching and ensuring effective communication.
  • Foster a cooperative and inclusive environment within cross-functional teams.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity and reduce costs.
  • Develop and monitor departmental metrics to ensure appropriate staffing and performance levels.
  • Stay updated on trends and practices in the engineering field.
  • Set an example for quality, ethics, respect, and trust within the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP to ensure continuity in management.

Requirements

  • BS in an Engineering discipline required, MS or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years in a management position with multiple department or geographic regional responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing KPIs aligned with business goals.
  • Experience driving change and strategy development in a senior leadership position.
  • Familiarity with SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical, SolidWorks, Navisworks, and EPlan.
