About the position

The Director of Engineering Process and Controls at Performance Drone Works (PDW) is responsible for overseeing the engineering management systems across various disciplines, ensuring the seamless execution of engineering processes in the development of custom small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS). This role involves refining core engineering processes, driving day-to-day operations, and leading the organization of technical data and knowledge management systems within a rapidly growing engineering workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver systems of engineering management across multiple engineering disciplines and functional teams.
  • Maintain and refine core engineering processes around product development, design, execution of documentation, and configuration controls.
  • Drive delivery of day to day engineering operations including cross-functional design reviews, tasking and status updates, and documentation generation.
  • Deliver training and enablement for use of engineering software tools, processes, and rituals across all engineering functions.
  • Lead the codification and organization of engineering technical data and knowledge management systems.
  • Enable and enforce processes, protocols, and directives from the VP of Engineering in the development of PDW products.
  • Coordinate with corporate compliance and regulatory functions to deliver engineering systems and products in alignment with PDW policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and manage tangential scope and processes around procurement, inventory management, testing, and emplacement of corporate initiatives within engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, engineering management, or 10 years direct work experience in these fields.
  • 5-10 years experience in development of software, hardware, and/or robotics platforms to a consumer customer base.
  • Direct experience emplacing and maintaining engineering software systems for requirements and scope management, tasking, and product development.
  • Direct experience developing and delivering processes to facilitate engineering controls and product development.
  • Experience developing processes from the ground up in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in data analysis and statistical methods.
