About the position

The Director of Environmental Compliance at Sazerac Company is responsible for leading and implementing environmental strategies and policies to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. This role promotes a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainable development across the company's operations, while also managing environmental risks and fostering relationships with regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and implement the company's environmental strategies, policies, and initiatives.
  • Conduct PDS reviews with direct reports to improve skills and performance.
  • Oversee and develop a team of environmental engineers to maintain compliance with environmental policies.
  • Maintain and enhance a compliance management system to minimize risks of non-compliance.
  • Manage environmental risks associated with capital expenditure projects and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Identify key environmental and sustainability metrics for organization-wide tracking.
  • Develop systems to collect, analyze, and report data for stakeholder needs.
  • Monitor and assess emerging trends in reporting requirements and manage compliance.
  • Provide overall leadership for the company's environmental program and ensure alignment with policies and standards.
  • Develop and promote a culture of sustainability across all locations.
  • Shape and advocate for the company's long-term environmental vision.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and industry associations to represent the company's interests.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset within the environmental team.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance environmental performance.
  • Lead educational programs and training for staff on environmental policies and sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline or environmentally related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience (minimum).
  • 5 years of factory experience and/or division, regional, or corporate environmental experience (minimum).
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex concepts.
  • Strong project management capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in the Alcohol Beverage Industry or CPG overall.
