About the position

The Director of ESG Supplier Risk, Compliance, and Reporting is a leadership role focused on managing and enhancing the firm's ESG supplier risk management strategies within a global procurement framework. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with evolving regulations, developing policies, and leading initiatives that promote responsible buying practices across the supplier ecosystem. The role requires collaboration with senior leaders and various teams to embed ESG principles into procurement strategies and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ESG Supplier Risk Compliance & Reporting pillar within the Supplier Risk & Social Responsibility team.
  • Develop and implement strategies for supplier risk governance, ESG & Risk reporting, policies, and compliance.
  • Ensure alignment with global frameworks and regulations such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG).
  • Provide expertise and guidance to senior leaders on ESG risk, compliance, and reporting topics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute supplier-related ESG and risk reporting.
  • Update and enhance Optimize-owned policies to promote responsible buying practices.
  • Create and implement training programs on ESG and risk topics for colleagues.
  • Lead a team of experts and expand the team to meet strategic goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in sustainability, third-party risk management, ESG regulatory disclosure and reporting, or related fields with a focus on procurement or supply chain.
  • Demonstrated success as a senior people leader managing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to create and implement ESG supplier risk management strategies in a complex global organization.
  • Commanding knowledge of ESG and sustainability principles, frameworks, and best practices, including current and emerging regulatory requirements.
  • Experience presenting at the C-Suite level and influencing leadership as a peer.
  • Understanding of the EU regulatory environment and governance processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in consulting advising senior executives, particularly Chief Procurement Officers (CPOs).
  • Familiarity with global frameworks and reporting initiatives such as GRI and EFRAG.
