About the position

The Director of Executive Communications at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, is a pivotal role designed for a seasoned communications leader. This position is responsible for managing both internal and external executive communications for the eight deans in the Office of the Dean. The role encompasses a variety of tasks including the creation of speeches, presentations, announcements, partnership proposals, university reports, and award nominations. The Director will collaborate closely with Kelley's Office of Marketing and Communications to develop messaging that aligns with the Kelley brand across various platforms such as publications, newsletters, marketing materials, press releases, blog posts, and website content. Additionally, the Director will support the Office of Development and Engagement with tailored messaging for alumni and donors, ensuring that communications are effective and engaging. In this role, the Director will maintain communication with faculty chairs, directors of degree programs, and auxiliary executive directors to stay informed about new initiatives and metrics that need to be reported in presentations and stakeholder updates. The position also involves working with media managers to prepare quotes for news releases and fact sheets for interviews, as well as assisting in the management of crisis communications. Internal communications to faculty and staff are also a key responsibility, including announcements of staff changes, successes, and program initiatives. The Director will produce newsletters for Kelley Bloomington professional and support staff to inform, engage, and celebrate successes within the community. The role requires the Director to assist in compiling and writing the six-year AACSB accreditation review, liaising with the AACSB representative, preparing the application, collecting documentation, and preparing the final report. The Director will also serve as a liaison on special projects between the Office of the Dean and the Office of Marketing and Communications, coordinating communications with the Vice Dean in Indianapolis. This position is dynamic and requires a high level of initiative, professionalism, and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in communications or a related field.
