About the position

The Director of Facilities is responsible for directing, planning, and overseeing custodial, grounds, and maintenance operations at the work site. This role includes managing a workforce of employees and ensuring a safe, comfortable, functional, and clean environment for building occupants while providing reliable and cost-effective custodial services for the client. The position requires strategic leadership and operational expertise to meet service level agreements and maintain departmental efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Direct overall operations by providing strategic leadership and operational expertise.
  • Adhere to company guidelines and recommend changes to policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, review, and approve departmental expenditures.
  • Interpret customer priorities and allocate department resources accordingly.
  • Establish equipment needs and capital requests, utilizing supervisory ranks to maintain resources responsibly.
  • Administer and oversee employee discipline, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain sufficient staffing levels within the constraints of the operating budget.
  • Develop assignments and scheduled activities for employees within the area of responsibility.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop an organizational structure that meets service level agreement expectations.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction to staff, setting expectations and focusing on performance.
  • Assign duties, delegate responsibilities, evaluate activities, and prepare performance appraisals and professional development plans.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and teaching to staff.
  • Manage the administrative process for assigned staff, including hiring, promotions, terminations, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, goal setting, and development plans for staff.
  • Plan for future staffing needs and provide timely communications to staff.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by demonstrating collaboration and effective communication.
  • Continuously improve the quality and delivery of services by motivating and empowering employees, implementing new technology, and revising processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Management experience of 7 years (Required).
  • EPA Universal Certification (Required).
  • Ability to relocate to Baton Rouge, LA before starting work (Required).
