About the position

The Hospital Facilities Director is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of the hospital's physical infrastructure. This includes ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role requires a strategic and operational focus on building systems, safety compliance, and continuous improvement in facility operations. The director collaborates with other members of the management team to ensure that the department meets its goals through the appropriate allocation of resources, whether human, financial, or technical. Additionally, the director serves as an advocate for the success of the department and as an ambassador for the hospital's mission by communicating successes and obtaining developmental resources for education, training, and experience to increase technical competence. This job description does not limit the duties of the employee, who may be required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties requested by their supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the hospital's physical infrastructure.
• Ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Focus on building systems, safety compliance, and continuous improvement in facility operations.
• Collaborate with management team members to meet departmental goals through resource allocation.
• Advocate for the success of the department and communicate successes to obtain developmental resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards (JCAHO, CMS, NFSPA, Life Safety).
• Familiarity with codes and standards such as NFPA, IBC, ADA, ANSI, FGI, and State of N.H. building and fire codes.
