About the position

The Director of Farm Viability and Natural Resource Division (Conservation Program Manager) is a leadership role within the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission, responsible for overseeing various programs related to soil health, climate, energy, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture. This position involves both technical and administrative oversight, including the development of policies, management of financial assistance programs, and representation at stakeholder meetings. The role supports conservation efforts across different farming operations and requires a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and administrative oversight of soil health, climate, energy, sustainability, and regenerative agriculture programs and grants.
  • Develop technical standards and policies related to conservation and agriculture best management practices.
  • Manage tax credits, financial assistance programs, farmer certifications, and lending programs.
  • Act as the Commission liaison for the Chesapeake Bay program, attending meetings with Bay leadership and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Commission at stakeholder group meetings focused on climate, soil health, energy, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support conservation technical and financial assistance needs of conventional, organic, and urban farming operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in natural sciences or a related field.
  • Six years of professional experience in soil and water conservation or natural science programs, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Valid PA Class C Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

  • Experience with grant management and program development in conservation.

  • Full-time employment with a salary range of $75,678.00 - $114,915.00 annually.
