About the position

Little Star is a fast-growing energetic organization, and we are looking for a passionate and driven Controller to advance the financial operations to support our growth. This person will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and operations personnel, and will handle day-to-day, monthly, and annual accounting functions. They will also play a key role in developing financial plans and educate the businesses management on financial topics. The Controller will manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. This role will guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. The Controller will provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points. Additionally, they will develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines, and monitor and confirm financial conditions by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors. The position involves preparing budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, and recommending plans. The Controller will maintain supportive relationships with business unit managers relating to financial performance, which involves substantial education of managers who may not have financial experience. Acting on issues on behalf of the CFO in their absence is also a key responsibility. Confidentiality of the organization's fiscal information and client confidentiality per LS policy and HIPAA Privacy Rule Regulations must be maintained. The Controller is expected to act as a positive role model for all staff, families, and children working with Little Star, modeling a high standard of reliability, accuracy, integrity, and professionalism. They will work to positively impact team spirit and overall morale while adhering to all Little Star policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, preferably in accounting or finance; Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • Technology proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet, and email.
  • Strong organizational habits with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A positive team player and energetic professional.
  • Excellent time management skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze/solve problems and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately given the circumstances of the situation and audience involved.
  • Discretion in matters that need to remain private.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people, both internal and external.

  • Salary range starting at $70k
  • 15 days of paid time off for first year of employment and an additional day for each subsequent year of employment
