About the position

The Director of Finance and Budget Analysis at the University of Chicago will oversee the Library's operating budget, financial planning, and procurement processes. This role is crucial in ensuring that the Library's financial operations align with the broader University strategies and operational budgets. The Director will serve as a liaison to various University departments, providing financial insights and recommendations to enhance fiscal management within the Library.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Library operational, research, gifts, and endowment budgets ensuring alignment with Library budget strategy.
  • Create regular budget and expense projections for all operating units.
  • Oversee revenue management and expense functions within the Library, maintaining fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Direct analysis and reporting of fiscal impacts, providing financial information to senior Library leadership.
  • Collaborate with management to refine fiscal functions and present recommendations to the Associate Dean of Operations and Administration.
  • Develop, revise, and implement financial policies and procedures in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
  • Stay updated on industry changes affecting Library finance and promote best practices.
  • Direct financial communications to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct education and training on financial metrics and operational concepts for the Library community.
  • Analyze and prepare budgets, manage accounts, and control expenses using the financial accounting system.
  • Prepare monthly reports and correct errors in accounts, advising on financial impacts of decisions.
  • Assist in the procurement process and advise on funding communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
