About the position

Syndeo has a direct-hire opportunity for a Director of Finance/HR in Hillsboro, KS. The Director of Finance oversees the company's accounting and revenue cycle operations, including producing financial reports, maintaining accounting records, and implementing controls and budgets to mitigate risk and ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. They also manage the business office staff and human resources. This role is critical in establishing and maintaining relationships with individual or business customers, providing assistance with problems customers may encounter, and overseeing the flow of cash or financial instruments. The Director will evaluate data pertaining to costs to plan budgets and establish procedures for custody or control of assets, records, loan collateral, or securities to ensure safekeeping. In addition, the Director will develop or analyze information to assess the current or future financial status of the firm, approve or reject lines of credit or loans, and prepare financial or regulatory reports required by laws, regulations, or boards of directors. They will evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting or collection procedures, or investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets, or other financial control functions. The Director will also prepare operational or risk reports for management analysis and plan, direct, and coordinate risk and insurance programs to control risks and losses. The role requires collaboration with fellow executive leadership team members to define long-term financial and human resource strategies and objectives. The Director will develop and implement strategic plans to optimize both financial and human resource processes and achieve targets, aligning these goals with the company's overall business objectives. Monitoring industry trends and adopting best practices to enhance financial and human resource efficiency is also a key responsibility. The Director will oversee day-to-day financial and human resource operations to meet business objectives, lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. They will monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions as necessary, while also managing human resources, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define long-term financial and human resource strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize financial and human resource processes.
  • Align financial and human resource goals with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends and adopt best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, innovation, quality, and teamwork.
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain financial management systems, including regular audits.
  • Manage human resources, including recruitment, payroll, benefits, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent working experience.
  • Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and procedures relevant to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Advanced principles and practices of municipal financial management, particularly in accounting, budgeting, auditing, and management information services.
  • Principles and techniques of revenue and tax administration.
  • 10+ years of industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous leadership experience is required.

Nice-to-haves
