About the position

The Director of Finance and Operations at Mission Edge is a pivotal role that requires collaboration with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the finance, human resources, and operations functions of the organization. The Director will work closely with staff and contractors to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the organization, while also helping to set the strategic direction of Intown. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality of the organization's work and supporting staff in achieving their goals. In terms of financial management, the Director will manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of all accounting and financial management policies, procedures, and systems. They will provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations that support the organization's strategic goals and viability. Continuous assessment of organizational capacity will be a key responsibility, along with reporting financial results and providing recommendations for change management. The Director will serve as the finance liaison to the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Director will oversee the human resources function, which includes setting overall people goals, managing performance evaluations, and coordinating with external HR support for any arising issues. They will also serve as the HR liaison to the Organizational Effectiveness Committee of the Board. The role demands strong leadership skills to define operational expectations, monitor progress, and create a supportive work environment that fosters organizational accomplishments and individual growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual budgeting process, including financial analysis, budget creation, and approvals.
  • Provide financial reports and analysis to the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.
  • Supervise financial contractors to ensure accurate financial systems and audits.
  • Oversee the Grants Manager for compliance and reporting on grants.
  • Assist the Leadership Team with financial budget and reporting for grants and contracts.
  • Ensure a high-quality hiring system for diverse, mission-focused employees.
  • Administer human resource plans and procedures for all employees.
  • Oversee benefits management, performance management, and onboarding processes.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Supervise human resources contractors and manage employee files.
  • Manage internal operations, including resource procurement and vendor relationships.
  • Create guidelines for efficient operations and supervise the Operations Associate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in senior organizational administration.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience required.
  • Exceptional judgment and collaboration skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong planning skills and creative intelligence.
  • Superb time management skills and ability to build sustainable relationships.
  • Capability to interact with all levels of the organization and external constituents.
  • Solid fiscal management and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated success as a supervisor.
  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis is preferred.
  • Grants management experience is a plus.
  • Expertise in MS Excel and QuickBooks.
