About the position

The Director of Finance & Budget Operations at MUSC plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the enterprise, which includes managing a budget exceeding $20 million across three entities. This position reports directly to the Vice President/Chief of Communications and Marketing and serves as a strategic financial resource, collaborating with various leaders to implement enterprise initiatives and prepare comprehensive financial plans.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Vice President/Chief of Communications and Marketing.
  • Support enterprise operations by managing a budget exceeding $20 million across MUHA, MUSC, and MUSC-P.
  • Collaborate with the Chief and other Directors on enterprise initiatives.
  • Prepare and compile financial strategic plans, including proformas and ROI calculations.
  • Review and monitor financial activities of OCM, including marketing budgets for Regional Hospitals.
  • Direct and manage the development of annual budgets.
  • Supervise the procurement process outside of supply chain functions.
  • Act as a liaison to various support services.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the Chief.
  • Collaborate with other enterprise team leaders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (MBA) preferred; Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 9 years of progressive work experience and 4 years of management experience.
  • Experience in a position of significant financial and operational responsibility in an academic medical institution or related field.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, operations, labor management, strategic planning, and performance reporting systems.
  • Proven ability to research, synthesize, and organize information for concise reporting.
  • Understanding of external regulatory requirements and internal controls.

  • Experience with contract negotiation, audit, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Full-time position with a competitive salary range of $94.1K - $119K per year.
