About the position

The Director of Finance (Grants & Contracts) at the Center for Community Alternatives (CCA) is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations related to the agency's grants and awards. This role involves supervising Budget Analysts, preparing financial reports for funders, managing contract and program budgets, and ensuring compliance with financial practices. The Director works closely with the Accounting Manager and other finance staff to support program management and achieve financial objectives while maintaining strong relationships with funders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees contract and program budget preparation and modifications.
  • Contributes to the RFP process.
  • Monitors all program spending, including approving purchase orders and invoices.
  • Compares budgets to actual results to identify and correct variances.
  • Oversees the annual budgeting process and continual reforecasting.
  • Monitors budget allocations and ensures fiscal practices are followed.
  • Teams with Accounting Manager to ensure accuracy of payroll allocations.
  • Prepares contract vouchers and maintains relationships with funders.
  • Prepares periodic funder reports, including quarterly federal grant reporting.
  • Monitors grants and contract compliance and manages collections.
  • Coordinates with the Director of Administration for contract registration.
  • Hires, directs, and develops Budget Analysts.
  • Ensures strong internal controls in financial matters.
  • Acts as point of contact for funder audits and assists with annual audits.
  • Coordinates meetings and prepares financial reports for Grants Management meetings.
  • Develops and enhances systems for contracts and grants administration.

Requirements

  • Experience in budgeting and financial management of multiple government grants and contracts in a nonprofit setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a quantitative field, or supplemented by experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct accounting software is highly desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases; knowledge of not-for-profit accounting software.
