About the position
Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Director of Finance Operations to oversee the financial management of St Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA, and Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. This position is crucial for providing strategic and operational leadership in the development and implementation of financial management, forecasting, budgeting, accounting, supply chain, and revenue cycle operations. The Director will work closely with the Regional VP of Financial Operations and will be a key member of the Hospital's Senior Management Team, participating actively in operational committees. The role involves conducting research, making recommendations for process improvements, and ensuring that financial operations align with the organization's strategic objectives. The Director will lead the annual budget process, ensuring that operational forecasts and budgets are developed in a manner that supports the hospital's strategic goals. This includes providing education and training to management on the budgeting process, offering technical assistance to department directors, and collaborating with the Regional Director of Forecasting/Budgeting to prepare and submit quarterly and annual budget files. The Director will also act as a financial resource for operational and senior management, reviewing requests for capital expenses and providing accurate analyses of special projects as needed. In addition to these responsibilities, the Director will work collaboratively with the Financial Reporting team during the month-end close process, analyzing variances in revenue and expenses and preparing action plans to address any discrepancies. The role requires participation in management meetings, presenting financial results, and providing education to departments to enhance their understanding of financial performance indicators. The Director must maintain a thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, ensuring adherence to ethical standards and the Trinity Health Corporate Integrity Program.
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial management for St Mary Medical Center and Nazareth Hospital.
- Lead the annual operating and capital budget/forecast process.
- Provide education and training to management on the budget process.
- Act as a financial resource to operational and senior management.
- Collaborate with Financial Reporting for month-end close and variance analysis.
- Participate in management meetings and present financial results.
- Enhance departmental understanding of hospital financials.
- Coordinate with the Director of Decision Support for service line analysis.
- Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Certification as CPA, CMA, or HFMA preferred.
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare finance.
- Previous managerial experience preferred.
- Experience in researching and analyzing complex financial issues.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management and C-suite executives.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix organizational structure.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills.
- High level of interpersonal, management, and organizational skills.
