About the position

The Director of Finance at Royal Sonesta New Orleans serves as the strategic financial leader of the hotel, responsible for aligning financial operations with the hotel's business strategy. This role involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling financial operations to ensure asset security, maximize return on investment, and provide accurate reporting and analysis. The Director of Finance is a key member of the Executive Committee, interacting with senior corporate leaders and asset managers, and plays a crucial role in financial compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies and local operating procedures.
• Recruit and manage qualified hotel accounting staff, including performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Lead the completion and presentation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and business plans.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and USALI.
• Develop and implement local accounting and financial control procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (Sox) 404.
• Build strong business relationships with hotel owners and stakeholders.
• Manage risk to preserve hotel property and reduce liability claims.
• Oversee receivables, payables, credit, payroll, cash handling, and treasury functions.
• Provide analytical support to identify cost-saving opportunities for property managers.
• Monitor economic and governmental trends affecting hotel financial objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in hotel accounting for large, complex hotel operations.
• CPA or MBA preferred.
• Fluency in English; other languages preferred.
• Experience managing multiple hotels or business units.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous hotel pre-opening experience preferred.
• Experience with computerized financial reporting systems and programs.
