About the position

The Director of Finance at ASM Global (SAVOR) is responsible for overseeing financial management, forecasting, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and payroll for the Alamo Dome. This role involves ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, managing internal controls, and collaborating with external auditors. The Director will also lead a team, set performance standards, and utilize financial data to guide decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain internal controls and compliance in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Ensure compliance for tax reporting purposes.
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other financial analyses as needed.
  • Create, maintain, and manage various budgets and forecasts, including the operating budget, monthly forecasts, capital budget, and cash flow analysis.
  • Supervise the process of recording manual journal entries.
  • Oversee finance-related processes (fixed assets, payroll, etc.) to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
  • Lead cost accounting processes for each event and location.
  • Review and sign off on financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses as requested.
  • Manage the facility's cash flow needs, investing idle funds while maintaining a minimum operating account balance to fund operations.
  • Oversee all functions related to Payroll, Accounts Payable, & Accounts Receivable.
  • Oversee Human Resources and Purchasing Department.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • 5+ years of accounting or finance leadership experience.
  • Strong financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance best practices.
  • Experience developing and implementing policy and procedure improvements and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements, using analysis to guide company decision-making.
  • Extensive operational finance experience including tracking event-specific and labor costs, leading cost accounting efforts, and conducting variance analysis.
  • Financial and management reporting experience.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Venue management experience in a Convention Center and Food & Beverage operation is highly desirable.
