About the position

The Director of Finance at Warner Center Marriott is responsible for managing all financial transactions and overseeing the operations of the hotel's general ledger. This role ensures the efficient operation of the Accounting department while adhering to DDC standards and meeting the expectations of both guests and owners. The Director will lead financial reviews, supervise accounting staff, and manage hotel financial planning and compliance with SOX regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review all journal vouchers, month-end reports, and reconciliations.
• Review preliminary financial statements with the Finance team.
• Lead monthly financial reviews and present the reports.
• Supervise Accounting staff and the Information Technology functions of the hotel.
• Coach and counsel associates to reflect service standards and procedures.
• Interview, train, and evaluate performance of staff.
• Manage and oversee hotel on-site accounting functions for proper fiscal management.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel.
• Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance.
• Complete the year-end audit process.
• Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers.
• Participate in and respond to auditor requests for compliance.
• Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements.
• Investigate, review, and analyze variance explanations with department staff.
• Manage troubleshooting for cost controls and revenue enhancement.
• Assist General Manager with special reporting and analysis projects.
• Present financial data to ownership group and DDC Home office monthly/quarterly.
• Ensure hotel accounting compliance with State and Federal government mandates.

Requirements

• Accounting degree required.
• 5 years or more of progressive Accounting experience, preferably in a hotel.
• Experience supervising Accounting staff members.
