About the position

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the hotel, ensuring effective controls and procedures are in place, and providing timely financial reports and analysis. This role involves advising on financial decisions that impact the hotel and collaborating with the General Manager and Executive Committee to meet financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all financial activities of the hotel.
  • Implement and monitor effective controls and procedures.
  • Prepare accurate and prompt financial reports and analysis.
  • Provide advice and input on financial decisions impacting the hotel.
  • Plan, direct, and implement strategies for accurate financial reporting.
  • Create and maintain internal control systems to protect company assets.
  • Direct preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Summarize and forecast hotel revenues, expenses, and earnings in reports.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and counsel Accounting staff members.
  • Arrange for audits of hotel accounts.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related business field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience leading hotel Accounting functions.
  • Strong verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • High work ethic and self-initiative.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Basic computational ability to produce required reports.
  • Ability to focus on multiple tasks and complete assignments within deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software.
