About the position

The Director of Finance at GBAPP, Inc. is responsible for managing the accounting, financial, and administrative functions of the organization. This part-time role involves overseeing accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director and the Executive Team to analyze financial data, manage revenues and expenses, and support grant reporting and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Balance all financial records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll monthly.
  • Perform monthly recurring revenue and expense journal entries.
  • Interface with Finance Department Staff to ensure receivables are correctly entered and timely payments are received.
  • Ensure payable vouchers are coded correctly to the proper department, program, and grant.
  • Verify payroll labor distributions are correct.
  • Perform/review monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation worksheet.
  • Prepare periodic ledger analysis and year-end reports.
  • Conduct data analysis for FTE allocations and assignments.
  • Provide support for audit functions by identifying and pulling transactions, invoices, and checks.
  • Prepare all agency grant reports including monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
  • Assist in grant application and budget processes.
  • Respond to grantor inquiries and run monthly financial reports.
  • Collect and input annual budget data from departments through Excel worksheets, QuickBooks, and/or Monthly Income Plan.
  • Assist and back up the Financial Specialist when needed.
  • Represent the Executive Director at meetings and report financial updates to the Board of Directors.
  • Perform other finance-related functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience in accounting, finance, and reporting in a multi-grant non-profit organization.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local granting financial processes.
  • Competency in general office and accounting software applications, particularly MS Office and QuickBooks.
  • Understanding of responsibilities and issues affecting federal, state, and local government policy choices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community mobilization.
  • Current CT driver's license and proof of insurance.
