About the position

The Director of Finance at Community Home Partners (CHP) is responsible for overseeing all financial functions, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting. This role involves close collaboration with the CEO/Executive Director to develop and monitor operating and capital budgets, manage accounting functions, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. The Director will also provide financial training to staff and assist in business development efforts for new housing programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with CEO/Executive Director to develop operating and capital budgets for housing and resident initiatives.
  • Oversee accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and investment accounting.
  • Prepare Annual Operating Budgets & Capital Planning Budgets for all programs and projects.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports including monthly budget status reports and year-end financial statements.
  • Coordinate and assist with independent audits and prepare quarterly Voucher Management System (VMS) reports.
  • Train and assist staff with cash management and routine accounting functions.
  • Maintain General Ledgers for all programs and projects and monitor tenant accounts receivable.
  • Oversee reconciliation of bank statements and verify direct deposits.
  • Monitor expenditure deadlines for the Capital Fund Program and prepare biannual write-offs for the Board.
  • Assist with business development for Community Home Partners and identify new housing programs and funding sources.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA certification or a master's degree in financial management is preferred but not required.
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, financial management, budgeting, or auditing.
  • Previous experience managing and leading a team is required.
  • Computer literate with extensive knowledge of accounting programs and electronic spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with governmental accounting and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations and Public Housing Authority financial indicators.
