About the position

The Director of Finance serves as the strategic financial leader for the hotel, responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the hotel's goals and enhance guest experiences. This role involves overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and maximizing returns on investment through effective budgeting and financial planning.

Responsibilities

• Directs preparation of budgets and reviews budget proposals.
• Works with the executive team to maintain an accurate financial forecast.
• Provides timely reviews of the organization's financial status to management.
• Partners with the GM and other leaders on financial issues.
• Ensures accuracy of the P&L and proper cost recording.
• Analyzes financial data and market trends.
• Implements corrective actions based on audit results.
• Reviews payroll records for accuracy and proper coding.
• Oversees the Labor Productivity program to manage labor use.
• Implements controls to manage business risks.
• Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Oversees audit processes and maintains operational control.
• Communicates financial concepts clearly to drive desired behaviors.
• Provides training on financial systems to Department Heads and Managers.
• Facilitates financial critique meetings with management.
• Assists with guest billing issues and cash handling.
• Conducts inventory checks and resolves discrepancies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in Accounting required.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in a similar role required.
• Experience within luxury brand/markets required.
• Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of accounting software.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics.
• Ability to read and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
