About the position

The Director of Finance at Asian Health Services is responsible for leading the finance departments, including Fiscal, Revenue Cycle, and Purchasing units, ensuring overall fiscal responsibility for the agency. This role involves overseeing financial management systems, preparing financial reports, and assisting in financial planning activities to maintain fiscal discipline and long-term financial strength. The Director will supervise staff, implement financial policies, and provide technical assistance in sound fiscal management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the planning, implementation, operations, maintenance, and periodic effectiveness review of all financial management systems.
  • Develops and maintains financial management policies and procedures that align with the agency's mission.
  • Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Plans and develops the agency's annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with executive management.
  • Prepares monthly financial reports for the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates the preparation and distribution of financial reports to senior management and board meetings.
  • Monitors and communicates the status of all financial targets/goals for each department.
  • Supports operating plan preparation and forecasting in collaboration with the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Assists CFO with the preparation of the agency's long-term financial plan and strategies.
  • Performs financial evaluation of new programs and capital equipment requests.
  • Investigates and resolves medical billing issues to maximize reimbursements and cash flow.
  • Manages financial and regulatory reporting, including preparation of annual Medicare and Medi-Cal cost reports.
  • Participates in the assessment of relative risks in the agency's programs and operations.
  • Provides supervision and leadership to the accounting, billing, and purchasing staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Eight years of progressive accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible management and accounting position experience.
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems and advanced proficiency in spreadsheets for data analysis and accounting.
  • Recent Director of Finance or Controller experience at similar size organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA and/or MBA
  • Knowledge of general accounting and auditing principles, medical billing, laws, and regulations regulating non-profit healthcare organizations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community health issues and the ability to work with multi-cultural staff.
