The Director of Finance at Central Consolidated Schools is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the district. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles, particularly in the context of educational institutions. The Director will be tasked with recording, analyzing, and reporting financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition to financial reporting, the Director will oversee all aspects of payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, financial reporting, bookkeeping, and federal programs. This role involves analyzing, developing, and implementing policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the district's business operations. The Director will also be responsible for preparing year-end financial statements and providing all necessary financial documentation to the New Mexico Public Education Department and federal agencies. Furthermore, the Director will manage the integrity and security of the financial system database, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and secure. The position requires the Director to effectively handle employee and community complaints related to finances, present budgets to the public and the Board of Education, and respond to inquiries regarding budget adjustments. The Director will also monitor cash flow, oversee billing to federal grants, and determine available funds for salary increases and other budget necessities. Attendance at Board of Education meetings is required, and the Director must comply with Board policies and administrative procedures. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, related to the scope of the position.
