About the position

The InterContinental Indianapolis is set to open in the fall of 2024, bringing urban luxury and timeless style to Monument Circle. As the Director of Finance and Accounting, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of this prestigious hotel. Your responsibilities will include balancing the books while addressing the needs of owners, auditors, and regulatory agencies, all while focusing on enhancing hotel profitability. You will be entrusted with the financial security of the hotel assets, ensuring that all financial practices are ethical and legal. In your day-to-day activities, you will manage and coach your team, ensuring that each member is assigned to the right task. You will set exceptional accounting practice standards and maintain financial control procedures. Your role will also involve maximizing financial returns through thorough financial analysis, data trends, and market information, while budgeting accordingly. Additionally, you will enhance the guest experience by improving payment options, inventory controls, and resolving financial disputes. Supervising clerical accounting employees across various functions, including Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll, will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach the finance team to ensure optimal task assignment.
  • Set and uphold exceptional accounting practice standards and ensure compliance with financial control procedures.
  • Maximize financial returns through financial analysis, data trends, and market information while budgeting accordingly.
  • Enhance guest experience through improved payment options, inventory controls, and financial dispute resolution.
  • Supervise clerical accounting employees across functions such as Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Payroll.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting and Finance or equivalent qualification.
  • 4-8 years of experience in hotel accounting or auditing, with at least one year in an Assistant Controller or similar supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of accounting management duties, including negotiating hotel space and tenant leases, processing payroll, and performing asset management duties.
  • Professional accounting or finance designation or certification preferred.
  • Fluency in local language(s) is required; knowledge of additional languages is beneficial.
