About the position

The Director of Finance at Triangle Family Services (TFS) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's financial operations. This position partners closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure effective financial management, strategic planning, and compliance with financial policies. The Director will lead budgeting processes, manage financial reporting, and support grant writing efforts, all while fostering a high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), financial tracking, and reporting, including supervision of staff.
  • Coordinate monthly financial closing processes and prepare reports for the Finance Committee.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, audits, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and grant management, ensuring compliance with financial policies and accounting practices.
  • Oversee government contract reimbursements and donation reconciliations.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial statements and key metrics, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Oversee government contract invoicing, ensuring compliance and timely submission.
  • Contribute to grant writing efforts to support funding opportunities and organizational growth.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the leadership team, collaborating on organizational goals and operational plans.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making and strategic execution.
  • Motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain efficient systems, controls, and processes to enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage vendor relationships to support cost-effective operations.
  • Supervise and mentor department heads, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Oversee accreditation, audits, and compliance across functional areas.
  • Maintain responsibility for financial operations, including working capital, expenses, taxes, and general accounting.
  • Manage financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis processes.
  • Accurately track and manage government contracts, grants, and foundation funding.
  • Ensure stable cash flow management policies and sufficient resources for daily operations.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Accounting is required.
  • CPA and/or Master's in Accounting/Business Administration degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or fiscal is required.
  • 2+ years in people management required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing all areas outlined in the job description.
