About the position

The Director of Finance at Area Agency on Aging Region 9 (AAA9) is responsible for managing all accounting functions and overseeing the fiscal unit's operations. This role involves strategic planning, budget development, financial performance monitoring, and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies. The Director will work closely with the CFO and provide leadership to the finance team, ensuring the agency's financial health and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned staff and evaluate staff as per agency policy
  • Assist the CFO with all planning, directing and managing of all accounting operational functions
  • Prepare and assist the CFO in developing budgets for AAA9 Operations, PASSPORT/Assisted Living, and other grants and programs as requested
  • Continuously monitor internal and external financial performance, including comparisons to budgets and grant proposals
  • Monitor financial positions, including current fiscal status and forecasts of future positions
  • Assist the CFO in developing models, projections, and analysis of MCO plans, grants, and new operations
  • Coordinate annual independent, corporate, and special audits as needed
  • Coordinate Ohio Medicaid Audit and ODA annual monitoring or special purpose visits
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of all Agency Fiscal Policies and Procedures
  • Conduct ongoing cost and budget analyses to identify, explain, and remedy any variances for AAA9 operations
  • Oversee overall financial and programmatic reporting for all funding sources
  • Develop and oversee fiscal unit and reporting system implementation and monitoring of Older American Act contracts
  • Oversee technical assistance to contract Older American Acts providers
  • Oversee procurement of agency purchasing
  • Serve as liaison and support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees
  • Assist the CFO in year-end ERISA compliance and audit support
  • Assist in the preparation of the Agency's tax returns and information
  • Assist the CFO with year-end financial statement internal control testing and preparation
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary process
  • Provide feedback and make recommendations for operational improvements
  • Perform all duties within Agency policies, guidelines and accepted code of conduct.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in fiscal management required
  • Accounting, supervisory, and computer experience required
  • CPA or advanced degree in accounting required
