About the position

The Director of HR Benefits and Operations at Trinity College is responsible for managing and leading a comprehensive range of benefits programs. This role is critical in ensuring that the college's benefits strategy meets the diverse needs of its population while remaining compliant with applicable laws and regulations. The position involves supervising a Benefits Coordinator and requires a strategic approach to enhance the employee experience across the campus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and innovate Trinity's benefits strategy and policies to meet the needs of a diverse population.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding benefits administration.
  • Maintain and enhance vendor relationships and stay updated on evolving benefit offerings.
  • Manage complex system workflows and ensure rigorous technical procedures for report and data auditing.
  • Oversee communication with benefit vendors and the campus community regarding benefit plan changes and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with IT, Payroll, and third-party benefit vendors to ensure accurate and timely data transfer.
  • Investigate and resolve escalated benefit-related issues, ensuring compliance and addressing individual employee concerns.
  • Plan and complete all compliance testing and audit requirements related to benefits.
  • Supervise at least one staff member in day-to-day benefit operations.
  • Manage annual benefit plan renewals and Open Enrollment processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-8 years' experience in benefits administration
  • At least 1 year of prior supervisory experience
  • Experience working in complex ERP systems, preferably Oracle
  • PHR Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of employee benefits operations and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience collaborating with external vendors and internal partners
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and present data effectively
  • Proven commitment to inclusiveness, diversity, and collaboration

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with HRIS, SharePoint, and One Drive
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to operate strategically and tactically
