About the position

The Human Resources Director (HRD) is a pivotal role responsible for strategic workforce planning and the day-to-day operations of Human Resources within the healthcare setting. This position is focused on acquiring, developing, and nurturing the best talent, which are critical drivers in achieving the goal of becoming the best place to work in healthcare. The HRD will proactively collaborate with leadership to manage people metrics, aiming for minimal turnover, effectively managed salary and wage expenses, high employee engagement, and ensuring high-quality patient care and excellent experiences for all stakeholders including patients, visitors, physicians, and employees. In this role, the HRD will partner with Market Presidents, Region Vice Presidents, Administrators, and Business Office Managers to ensure alignment with policies and salary administration. The HRD will lead the implementation of various human resource programs and initiatives, focusing on employee relations, performance management, HR core process delivery, and HR administration. Responsibilities also include overseeing recruitment and retention efforts, onboarding processes, and supporting HR strategic projects as needed. The HRD will facilitate training for managers and employees, provide constructive feedback, manage conflicts, and coach low performers to enhance overall team performance. The HRD will also be responsible for talent planning and assessment, identifying pipeline gaps, and training needs, while ensuring that service-level agreements are met. This includes reviewing and modifying employee handbooks, policies, and procedures as necessary. The HRD will provide employee relations support for field leadership and assist in setting improvement targets through leadership surveys, ensuring effective communication and action planning across all departments.

Requirements

  • Experience of at least five to seven years in a top HR position
  • Solid working understanding of core HR tools, resources, structure, processes
  • Demonstrated track record of driving high organizational performance and high employee engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, align the organization, and lead the implementation of projects and initiatives
  • Experience as Change Agent preferred
  • Strategic leader able to build trust quickly with senior leaders, stakeholders, and staff members
  • High emotional intelligence is required
  • Ability to drive operational excellence including delivering flawlessly on the human resources fundamental elements
  • Thought leader with stellar critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to anticipate and proactively provide/propose solutions
  • High business aptitude
  • Experience in a union environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate in such environment
  • BS degree in Business, HR Management or related field strongly recommended
  • Master's degree or SPHR preferred
