The Director of HR Programs at the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is a senior-level managerial position responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance in the operations of the Human Resources Office. This role involves overseeing major agency programs, including the Worker's Compensation Program, Agency Military Veteran's Program, Classification, HR Rewards, HR Records Management, DFPS Wellness Program, HR Employee Relations, and employment criminal background checks. The Director II is tasked with managing HR-related actions such as data entry for compensation, career tracks, and management-directed transfers, promotions, and demotions, along with other assigned operations. In addition to program oversight, the Director II is responsible for managing HR management training, special projects, HR communications, HR policy, forms, and research. The position requires establishing strategic plans, goals, and objectives, developing policies and procedures, and coordinating program activities to ensure compliance with departmental objectives and legislative requirements. The Director II works under minimal supervision, exercising extensive initiative and independent judgment while supervising the work of others. The role also includes acting as the Director of Workforce Planning in the absence of the Deputy Director of Workforce Development, ensuring a collaborative approach to human resource services, and developing long-term program goals consistent with the agency's mission. The Director II is expected to identify systemic issues, oversee revisions to HR policies, and implement changes to improve operational efficiency. This position requires strong leadership skills to manage HR staff, facilitate communication, and represent the agency in various meetings and legislative sessions.
